The Screaming Jets play a free gig for 50,000 people after the football match; the stage was located on King Street Newcastle near The Star Hotel and Newcastle Workers Club precinct. The city had issued a shut down of all pubs and venues directly near the gathering crowd. The Jets played; The Workers Club closed its doors on the capacity crowd, leaving Mark Henderson's Star Hotel serving the masses, inside Ian Sandercoe's band Yiante performed for the elated revellers.
